The 'Spirit' of the Spencer Gulf is here!
The new $16 million, custom-built drive-on, drive-off ferry created by Sea SA car & passenger ferries especially for Spencer Gulf conditions, arrived at Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula on Saturday 15th March, after a 14 day voyage from ship-yards in Indonesia.
Sea Spirit 1, a 64-metre world-class catamaran, capable of carrying 93 vehicles of all sizes plus 300 seated passengers, has forged a new tourism trail and transport route linking the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas, and elevated the ferry travel experience to a whole new level.
Based on an internationally award-winning design by Australian naval architects, Sea Transport, Sea Spirit features mezzanine car deck, air-conditioned café, hospitality lounges, disabled access including an onboard lift, on board movie theatres, kids’ play zone, internet area and tourism booth.
“In addition to Sea Spirit’s very comfortable and stylish interior, she boasts an award-winning quadruple screw design which means with four engines, four gearboxes and four propellers, there is always a back-up and she’s virtually unstoppable,” Sea SA Managind Director, Stephanie Dawson explained.
The new ferry departs from Wallaroo and Lucky Bay daily, with half price specials currently available on select services until 31 August 2008.
Additional services will be added in peak periods subject to demand. Bookings are essential, and can be made on line at www.seasa.com.au or at the ticket office on
